I got up around 5:00 this morning. The CPAP machine didn’t work for me. The weird C-FLEX thing that it does doesn’t actually keep my sleep apnea from stopping me breathing. So I struggled with that most of the night and didn’t get very restful sleep. I was awake probably three to four hours of that time just trying to get everything working and adjusted but it just didn’t work.
So I came down stairs and got to work. There is plenty of work to get done, no end to that. So I made myself productive since I was up. I got a hold of the CPAP supplier when they opened at 8:30 and got instructions on how to make the machine act like a regular CPAP instead of the C-FLEX mode. So I am hopeful that sleep tonight will be a lot better than it was last night. I am really tired today.
At 8:45 I had to head out to a doctor’s appointment in Batavia. That went really well. The doctor was really amazed by the incredible improvement that my foot has made. In fact, I was discharged as completely healed. She couldn’t believe how it had cleared up. Originally, we were scheduled for surgery to deal with it last week. And now we don’t have to deal with it at all!
I got home just in time to wake up Min so that she would be ready to go to lunch with dad at 11:00. We went over to the Omega Grill and had a nice lunch. After lunch, Min sat in the theatre room knitting and watching television while I worked in the office.
After business hours were over, I decided that I needed to get back to bed and see if I could get that machine to work and get me some good sleep. I am just not productive being sleepy. I really hope that the changes I got will work and that this machine will work as well as the one at the sleep clinic.
Well, I took a couple hour nap in the middle of the afternoon. I didn’t really fall asleep though, I don’t think. It is really difficult to fall asleep when you are paying so much attention to yourself breathing. It will take me a while to get used to the entire process and to not think about it so much while it is going on. The machine is working much better now that I have changed it over to traditional CPAP mode. Hopefully that will let me get good sleep now. It is also difficult to sleep in the middle of the evening when you are used to going to bed late at night. So tonight will be the real test.
Andy and I went over to Wegmans for a quick dinner around 8:30. I was in the mood for some Wegmans pizza so I wanted to go over there. Min had eaten while I was napping so she stayed home to knit. She has been knitting and watching movies all day.
I had a bit of work that needed to be done this evening so I went back to work in the office for three or four hours before going back to bed.
Only two more months before As Time Goes By: Season 7 releases on DVD. Min and I are always looking forward to that. We are into the episodes that I have never seen so they are a lot of fun for me to watch. It took a long time to get through all of the ones that I had already seen many times so it is nice to actually get to watch something “new”. Red Dwarf: Season 5 and Red Dwarf: Season 6 are also due out the same day, on March 15. Looks like we will be buying a bit of stuff on that day. Of course, Are You Being Served, Again? releases on Monday. I don’t think that Min knows so I had better tell her because she has been looking forward to that for a long time.
Well, it is getting late. I have to run out to Buffalo for a lunch meeting tomorrow with a wireless communications company out there that we met at the Rochester B2B Tech Expo. I have been trying to make the most out of the people that we met there. It has just taken me a long time to get around to everything. Okay, it is time for me to do my end of the evening post and head off to bed. Hopefully I will manage to actually get a full night’s sleep tonight. If I could just manage to actually fall asleep with the mask on, then I should be okay. The problem is that it is very difficult to fall asleep when you are trying so hard to fall asleep!
