I had heard something to that effect but hadn’t put two and two together. I was unaware that The Spot was selling alcohol to the event. I did hear that the alcohol companies were sponsoring the event though.

What other reason would they have to hold such an event there? The only business open during the event *was* the Spot, and they were selling alcohol on the street. Afterwards, everyone could come on in and spend their cash on some food/drink.

Usually, when events are held in town, they close off Park Place, which allows for spillage into the park. Or, they’ll close off a large parking lot, which is much more spacious. I saw on Saturday that they had an event at PSE&G for the Newark high schools. But high school kids aren’t allowed into the Spot…
