The ultimate catastrophy has befallen me tonight… my Internet access is out and they aren’t bothering to send someone out to fix it until tomorrow! So I am stuck in the hotel without any decent means of communications. So, I am writting tonight’s update while watching Tom Hanks in The Burbs. You can’t go wrong with classic Tom Hanks. I haven’t seen this movie in forever. I can barely remember it. I had a great haul at Walmart tonight, they added a new bargain section for just $7.50 and I managed to get The Burbs, Guarding Tess and one of my favorites, The Age of Innocence with Daniel Day-Lewis, Wynona Rider and Michelle Pfeiffer.

I got to sleep in a little bit tonight. A whole six hours of sleep, I think that that is the most that I have managed to sleep since I got down to DC.

I had an early afternoon meeting at the hospital center so I had to get up and moving and get out there. I ended up working almost all afternoon. After the meeting, John and I headed out to Annapolis for a meeting that went until evening. So it ended up being a long day. Without Internet access, I don’t have a ton of work that I can get done. But they are supposed to be fixing the server that is down first thing in the morning so if I get to bed early maybe I will be able to get up and moving in the morning.

Today was an extra long day. I worked at the hospital last night until really late. I was working on a project at the hospital center that needed to run for like fourteen hours so I went back to the hotel and tried to get some sleep. I got tons of calls all through the night so I never manager to get more than two hours of sleep at a stretch. It didn’t do much for making me feel wide awake all day long. I headed back to the hospital mid-morning. I ended up working there for longer than I had intended and didn’t back until mid-afternoon. I did some light work around the hotel before heading back to the hospital at night. I put in about four more hours at the hotel through the night. It made for a long day and night. I didn’t manage to get back to the hotel and get to bed until around 4:30 am.

Tons of work around the hotel today. I have tons of paperwork that needs my attention so I worked on that.

Tonight I had to go in to work late at the hospital. I am doing some work at both hospitals so I am planning on it being a really long night. I ended up working until about 3:00am and then heading back to the hotel to catch a nap.

I know what you are thinking, “Holy cow there are updates!” – and it’s true. There are updates again. Life in the hotel inspires me to communicate with the outside world one way or another. This is about the only medium that I have at my disposal so it gets all of the attention.

After going to bed around 5:00am this morning, I wasn’t about to hop out of bed early this morning. I did get up long before expected, at least, and got straight to work. I spent most of the day working at the laptop. I was so busy in fact that I didn’t get a chance to shower until after 6:00 this afternoon. Showering whenever it is convenient is one of the perks of working out of a hotel room. I had some lunch over at McDonalds since I haven’t had a chance to put anything into the fridge yet. I need to find some of the vegetarian psghetti o’s that Min found in Ithaca. Those would be perfect now that I have a microwave. John was supposed to call this morning but never did so I didn’t have to leave all day. Not leaving makes me a million times more productive anyway. Stopping and starting and travelling all cut into the day something fierce. I actually get a couple days worth of work done when I don’t have to leave the hotel.

I had some shopping that I needed to do this evening. I hit Walmart and the grocery store to get some much needed supplies. Namely, soy milk and cereal. Now that I have a fridge the simple pleasures will not be denied me. Luckily the grocery store, Giant, that is right around the corner from me is really nice and has a good selection even though it isn’t really all that, umm, well, giant.

I headed into the office really late tonight. We have a new night manager working and I was training him tonight and setting him up with his accounts. So the best time to do that was in the middle of the night.

I went for a walk tonight at around a quarter to two in the morning. It was a beautiful night for a walk. I went for almost an hour and a half. The last twenty minutes were spent in pretty decent rain. By the time I got back to the hotel, I was soaked. But I didn’t mind. I like the rain, even when it catches me by surprise. It was warm enough that I didn’t get cold, just wet. I like walking in the rain. It is very soothing. I think that rain is very isolating. It is easy to feel alone when it is raining. As if society cannot penetrate the shield of water. Kind of like nylon in that respect.

Andy has been working on the video game tonight. I am not sure what his plans are but he got some of the networking working tonight. That is a big step forward. Andy also got his Exodus instant messenger working this evening. That is a big help. I am able to actually talk to him now while I am out of town. That should be nice for him too since he is at home all alone now with Min in Ithaca and me in DC.

Ok, so this is like my biggest backlog of all time. Sorry about that, really couldn’t be helped. I can’t believe how busy I have gotten recently. I am in Bowie, MD today. I got in around 5:30 this morning. Man was I exhausted. I set up the laptop and sent some quick emails before going to bed. The room that I got was flooded and smelled horrible. But I was too tired to care. I should have dealt with it right away, though, because the hotel made me get up at 11:30 so that they could get me into a better room. So, by noon I was into a matching room down the hall that was a bit dryer than the first. I have learned a new trick here as well. I now request a room in the south tower because these rooms are newer and have a refridgerator as well as a microwave in them. That should help out immensly with me staying down here so much. One of the biggest problems that we have had has been me not being able to keep food here or even order food to be delivered because I couldn’t keep the leftovers. Now I can really make use of the room. I plan to get some soy milk to put in there and some cereal soon. It will be nice not to have to leave for every little snack that I want.

It is a warm, humid, overcast, drizzly day here in Maryland. I slept at a really odd time and now it seems like it is perpetually late evening. It is really heavily overcast. No sign of the sun at all but it is so humid that going outside isn’t very nice. I am just working in the hotel room today, for the most part. My cell is dead and barely works in the hotel anyway. As always, just call the hotel to get me, that is the best thing to do. (301) 464-0089 room 132.

I spent a few hours this afternoon helping get some things working in Min’s office. Pretty much anything that lets me procrastinate from doing my homework gets me. I really don’t want to do it so I end up avoiding it if I am not really careful.

I managed to get some work done this afternoon as well as watch some DVDs while sitting at the desk that I never leave. I ordered out for some pizza from the really good place just a mile away and had it delivered. I decided that I wanted to take advantage of my refridgerator as soon as possible. I also got 2 liters of Pepsi. I would have died from caffeine withdrawl otherwise. I had about 32oz. of Barqs and two Amps during the drive to keep myself awake last night. So I need some extra boost today.

I did make it out for a short walk tonight, not very long but enough to barely qualify as a cardio workout. That is enough for me.
