Friday. Slow day today. The gang came over this evening. Josh, Art and Jeremy all came over for a long night of Age of Empires 2. Josh and Art teamed against Jeremy and I. We only managed to play one complete game. We had to stop part way through the second game because it went until almost 5:00 am and wasn’t going to be over any time soon. So we had to end the game early.

Thursday. Lord of the Rings 2: The Two Towers Extended Edition released today. So Min and I went out to Walmart (we took the puppy with us) to pick it up while it is on special. We watched about an hour through the first disc when we discovered that the disc was bad and wasn’t going to play all the way through. So we returned that DVD and got another. So we popped that one in and immediately it was bad too. So we ran back over to Walmart to return that one as well. The third one managed to play all the way through. I really appreciate the extended versions. I like them much better than the regular editions. There is so much story missing from the shorter versions. I think that it is really amazing that they are able to make the different editions with continuing story lines in each edition that continue through each of the seperate editions. We watched the movie and the documentaries. There are a ton of documentaries with the extended edition.
(Update from July, 2006: Apparently when I first wrote this post I had fallen a bit behind and had not mentioned that we were doggie-sitting the Tocco’s dog Dexter. Dexter considered us to be his second family and loved coming to stay with us.)

Friday. Today is the funeral. The weather is a lot better today than it was yesterday. People are safely able to travel. We had calling hours this afternoon before the funeral service. Tons of people came for the calling hours today. Even more people came today than yesterday.
The funeral service was really nice. They played recording of mom playing the accordian and singing some of her songs that she had written in the late 1980’s. It was a really nice service. After the service, about half of the crowd headed down to LaGrange for a pot luck dinner.

Thursday. Today is the calling hours for mom down in Perry. Dad called to tell us that he might not be able to make it down there because the weather was so bad that there was a head on collision of two tractor trailers on route 63 right in front of the house. So the roads were blocked. Min and I set out to head to Perry and the weather was just awful. It was horrible driving, heavy snow and driving wind. We were really worried that we weren’t going to make it ourselves. We got into Leicester and 20A and 39 were closed because of an accident there as well. So we had to drive way out and around to get to Pine Tavern. We eventually made it to the funeral home. Dad and my grandparents were able to make it to. I had a lot of family coming in from Ohio today in the awful weather. It took them eight hours to get in instead of the regular five.
A lot more people made it out to the calling hours than I was expecting. I wasn’t really thinking that anyone was going to come out tonight because of the weather. But lots of people came. It was really nice to see so many people coming out in the terrible weather.
