May 4, 2003

Min and I got up in Mount Morris and headed off to Geneseo first thing so that she could see her sorority sisters before many of them headed off to their final destinations. We got there just in time to see them off and Min got to tell them all of the latest happenings. A few of them were able to stay and we all had breakfast at the Omega Grill in Geneseo.

After breakfast, we hit the road and drove out to Frankfort so that we could tell Min’s family about the engagement.

We got out to Frankfort around 4:00 and sprung the surprise on Min’s parent’s. They weren’t too surprised, though, since Min is terrible at hiding anything and she had called ealier to be sure that she was going to be there. So they had figured things out already. After telling them the news, we went out to eat at Denny’s in Utica.

May 3, 2003: Scott and Dominica Get Engaged!

So last night, Min and I decided to throw around the idea of getting married this year. So this morning, we headed out to the Village of Wyoming to look at the Hillside Inn to look at wedding options up there. Min really liked Hillside. The location is really beautiful.

After looking at Hillside, Min and I headed over to Wadsworth and spent a few hours hanging out with Arti and Danielle. I haven’t seen their son, Michael, since he was about two years old. He is five now. He has really grown up. It is hard to believe how big he is. We had a really good visit. After that, Min and I headed out to Pavilion for some awesome Davis’ Pizza. I miss getting pizza in Pavilion. I can’t wait until I move back to there so that I can get it all of the time.

After pizza, Min and I headed up towards my parent’s house. On the way there, we pulled over on the side of the road and I asked her to marry me. So now it is official, we are engaged (she said yes, obviously.) Whoo-hoo. We are planning on October 4, 2003. Yes, this year. We decided that we want to get married in the fall and we don’t want to wait until next year.

So we continued on to my parent’s house and told them that we were getting married. They were really excited.

The rest of the day mostly consisted of tracking down people and stuff that we needed to do for the wedding. We are in a bit of a panic because of the timing. Jenn was in Rochester so we headed up there to tell her. We all went to Borders and found some wedding books to get things rolling.

(Update from June, 2006: Jenn had gone to the World War II aircraft museum in Geneseo today and had purchased a small wooden airplane that she was all excited about on this day. Several years later she gaves us the plane as a gift because she had bought it on the day that we had become engaged.)

Min and I went down to the Yott Club in Pavilion to hear Arti’s band Showtime play. We stayed for a couple of hours. The band announced our engagement in Pavilion and played a slow song for us to dance to just before we left. It was really cool to get to see Arti and Danielle again.

May 2, 2003

I got up early (for me) this morning and drove on out to Rochester to meet Eric for a round of golf. But the weather was a little bit cold and damp so he wussed out on me. So we went to Jay’s Diner and got some brunch and hung out for a while before heading over to Borders where I needed to do some shopping. We shopped there for a little while and I got an amazing haul of cook books including Thai, Red Hot Chili Pepper Cooking, Russian, German and Polish Cooking, Farmer’s Market and Cooking with Curry. I never cook but I love cookbooks. LOL. Eric and I sat down and had some coffee there while we waited for Josh to join us.

Josh joined us at Borders for coffee for a little while but Eric had to get back to work before long. So Josh and I moved over to Starbucks to work from there. We ended up working all afternoon over coffee and chai.

After Josh took off to head back home, I drove down to Geneseo to meet up with Dominica and her sorority sisters who were all partying down there. We partied for a couple of hours (boy is it weird to party with college kids!!) and then we decided to call it a night early and get some Taco Bell/KFC and head off to Mt. Morris where we had a hotel room at the Country Inn and Suites there right on Route 36 on the north side of town.

This was my first time ever staying in a Country Inn and Suites and we were both really impressed. The room was definitely a little bit pricey for the area but the room and the service was really phenominal. I will probably never have to stay in the Mt. Morris area.

Happy May Day! I moved the March updates over to the Archive page so this page is loading a little bit faster. The 2003 First Quarter updates constitute the second busiest season ever in the history of the Llamas. So, for those of you who have fallen behind reading the updates (most likely because I have fallen behind writting them)

April 30, 2003: An Afternoon at the Bistro Q

Busy day for me today. I had to get up and get into the Lifestyle Properties office early in the morning to get them up and running with Quickbooks before heading downtown to work on getting things moving again on my degree program with Empire State College. I got to Empire at eleven and spent about an hour there.

I had lunch at Ned’s Pizzeria in the Center Ithaca. They actually have really good pizza and it wasn’t expensive at all. Only $3.75 for two slices and a soda! I ate there. The original plan was to meet Steve Lucente for lunch at the new Asia Cuisine on Aurora but he had an environmental disaster at his house and couldn’t make it.

FYI – Leanne Dodge (Cooley) is directing Bye Bye Birdie at Perry High School on May 16th and 17th. That is Friday and Saturday evenings. For those in Ithaca, the Boynton Music Dept. trip to Darien Lake is the 17th. So plan accordingly.

Anyway, Steve ended up getting things under control and was able to meet me at the Bistro Q a little bit later and we ended up working from there for the rest of the afternoon. Dominica headed over there after work and we had dinner there (Steve had to leave to go find his son who was AWOL.)
