Loopy took his car in for repairs again today and it appears to be working now. He can actually drive again. He is very relieved.

I got called to do some silly tech work up in Syracuse next week. Really silly stuff, so silly, in fact, that I can’t find anyone willing to do the work with me. But, they are offering to get me an IBM Certification for it so I am willing to do the work just to enhance my resume. And it is work for a company that I have worked for previously so it is always nice to be able to go back to a place that you have worked at before. It is one thing to get hired because of your resume but another to be asked back. So I am happy about that. And the job is only for 2-3 days so it can only be so bad. Ok, ok, it can be pretty bad.

Tuesday, Min and I are going out to Rochester. She is interviewing for a real estate job in Geneseo and I am dealing with the house.

Min and I decided that we couldn’t stand Zach’s television in the living room anymore so we went to the P&C and bought a $90 20″ Apex television to match my $49 Apex DVD player that is already in the living room. So now, we can watch all of our DVDs down there – previously we were only able to watch DVDs that didn’t have Macrovision on them because we had to pump the DVDs through the VCR. So the only things that we had that we were able to watch were BBC television shows like Father Ted, Are You Being Served, Red Dwarf, As Time Goes By and A Fine Romance. They are great shows but it didn’t give us a wide range of variety to view while we ate dinner. And the new TV is a lot bigger than the old one so that helps a lot too. It isn’t in stereo but boy was it cheap.

I spent most of the day working on installing Windows NT 4 Server and SQL Server 7 on a test machine because I need to test a couple of things out. It seems like that would be an easy job but it always ends up taking all day one way or antoher.

Min and I watched Spirit on the new television to check it out. That is a really good movie. Min had seen it before but I hadn’t. I really liked it.

I won another auction today… The NEW Parent Trap on DVD, still sealed. I already have this movie on laserdisc but it is out of print on DVD and I wanted to be sure to get it. Plus, LD’s are fetching decent prices on eBay these days so it doesn’t seem like such a bad deal to sell off a lot of them now. I have tons of LDs that I will likely never get rid of but some that I can get easily on DVD that I will watch a lot it is worth switching for me. Especially if the LD isn’t widescreen or have digital surround sound. Which most of them don’t.

April 16, 2003: Happy Birthday Josh

Happy 27th Birthday to Josh!

Today my parents came down to Ithaca so that dad could work with Loopy and I on a new project that we are working on to track fire extinguishers for hospitals. We all went out to lunch at the Greek House in Collegetown for lunch.

The Surfing IT Wizard was supposed to be stopping by today so that we could work on Gordon whom he bought from us but he wasn’t able to make it today so he is planning on coming next Monday.

I have found that shopping on eBay for movies can be fun so I searched around today and I managed to find Hayley Mills in Disney’s The Moon-Spinners that I have wanted for a really long time. So I won that auction today.

Min made me watch Mulan. I haven’t seen it since it first released in 1998. I saw it at the Silver Lake Drive In. It was better than what I remembered.

This morning I managed to order Saludos Amigos from eBay so Loopy, Min and I went to the mall for lunch and I got Mulan at FYE. Now I own the entire collection. All 41 of the 41 available movies. The complete Disney Full Length Animated Feature collection. Whoo-hoo.

Well, the excitement of the morning came to an abrupt end… I got an email from Acendex in Cleveland. They have decided to withdraw the offer that they had made to me. So I am no longer going to be working in Cleveland. Needless to say, that is rather depressing. But, life goes on. It isn’t that big of a deal. I am not going to be driving to DC now until maybe next week because I was only going down now because of the rush. At least I have a little bit of time to relax now.

Min and I started watching a couple of movies but with the news, we cut it short. She is still not feeling well from the sulfites she encountered yesterday so she went to bed very early and Loopy and I watched Disney’s Robin Hood. Loopy has never seen Robin Hood before. I haven’t seen it in forever. After Robin Hood, we watched some of Father Ted Series II because Loopy still hasn’t seen all of it yet. We stayed up really late watching movies.

April 13, 2003

Today is an exciting day. Min and I met Josh, Joanna, Phil and Kate out at Dr. Frank’s Vinifera out on the west side of Keuka Lake and went on an eight winery tour that was a special Murder Mystery event where you go to different wineries and collect clues to solve the mystery. We didn’t make it to the last winery but we actually managed to solve it a few wineries early. The prize was a 5% discount on Keuka Lake Wine Trail wines during this summer. So, it was a lot of fun and we managed to save some money if we buy some wine this summer too. It was a good time. After going to all the wineries, we ended up in Penn Yan and had a really slow dinner at Sarassins. But it was good.

Min got a pretty bad headache from all of the wine so she went to bed really early. Loop and I stayed up and watched The New Guy which is a really silly movie but enjoyable. It was cute. Loopy went to bed after watching that but I stayed up and watch K-19 The Widowmaker. That was a really excellent war movie. I really like both Harrison Ford and Liam Nieson. It was quite a riveting movie and it is a historical subject that I know little to nothing about. So it was very interesting.

On the way home from the wine tour, Min and I stopped at the new Super Walmart in Watkins Glen and did a little shopping. I picked up two new DVDs. I got Lilo and Stitch and Casualties of War. Only two of the Disney collection left to go.
