Sunday. We started off this morning with Dominica making eggs and waffles.
This evening Dominica made homemade pizzas for us for dinner.
January 6, 2018: Getting the Kids Back
Saturday. Today Dominica and I drove down to Houston so that we could pick up Liesl and Luciana and bring them back up to Dallas. So that took us most of the day.
Five hours down, and we hung out down in Houston for a few hours. Then five hours back up to Dallas. We were very tired once we got back home.
We just ordered in Chinese takeaway to make things nice and easy this evening. No one felt like doing anything.
January 5, 2018: Last Day Without the Kids
Friday. Today is our last day in Dallas without the kids. We will be driving down to Houston tomorrow to pick them up since the Grice kids are about to head back to school on Monday and need this weekend to catch up on rest and get ready for school.
Today I built some wiki.js systems. Seems like a nice wiki, quite fast.
This evening Dominica and I took advantage of being kid free for one last night and went out to Sherlock’s for an evening of live music at a younger bar. We’ve not managed to get out to go drinking in Addison together in a very long time.
We are regularly finding that there are so many things that we felt like we “just did recently” and that that was actually half a decade ago in 2013 just before we moved away from this house! It’s unreal to us how long we have not been living here, but how much it feels like we never left.
The band tonight was quite good and the bar was very busy. We had a nice evening out.
January 4, 2018: ML Updates
Thursday. Busy day of work and posting today. Did a major ML update to a new server instance today, even more power for more speed.
I’ve been so busy this past month that I’ve not even checked in on SW in three weeks! It’s been very freeing.
Danielle had to work in NYC today and ended up getting stuck on Amtrak in a blizzard on her way down there.
January 3, 2018: Date Night
Wednesday. This morning Dominica got up and made her and me biscuits and gravy with veggie sausage.
Lots of online work today. It’s just Dominica and I at the house this week, the kids are still in Houston. So our time to get lots of stuff done.
Tonight, Dominica and I went for a fancy dinner out at Pappadeaux to which we had an awesome gift certificate that we got over a year ago. The restaurant is really close to us, up on Frankfort.
Dinner was awesome. The food was great. It was so nice having a fancy dinner out together. We never manage to get date nights these days.
