July 26, 2017: MangoCon Time

Wednesday.  This is it, time for MangoCon 2017!

Spent the day up in Rochester getting ready for the big event.  Dominica and I checked into our hotel room around eleven.  We had a lot of errands to run, especially after doing a sound check.  So we were super busy all morning.  There are a million technical problems with the setup of the conference speaking space.  This is going to be extremely hard to make work.

Dominica and I did our final morning coffee at ten thirty.  On the road at eleven.

On Our Way to MangoCon 2017

The conference started officially at six.  Ahead of that, a bunch of us gathered a the Genesee Brewery for beers before it all kicked off.  We got to the brewhouse around four.

It was a good evening, and exhausting.  Going to be a busy couple of days.

Jeremy and I went out looking for late night doughtnuts, there is a Dunkin Donuts across the street from MangoCon.  But sadly, and ridiculously, they are not twenty four hours!  Who closes a doughnut shop in New York?

July 25, 2017: New Camera

Tuesday.  Dominica and I had a quiet breakfast this morning, one of our last chances to chill before the MangoCon madness begins.

We got some time to play with the new Panasonic video camera that arrived this morning so that we could learn how to use it.

All conference prep today, and as much “real” work as can be squeezed in.  Lots to do with the conference starting so soon.

July 23, 2017: Stormy Weekend

Jeremy stopped by at dad’s today so that we could work on our joint presentations for MangoCon this week and to do some design work for SodiumSuite.

Working on MangoCon Presentations

We did a very late lunch around four this afternoon in Geneseo.  While we were there the village alarms went off, we are guessing that it was tornado warnings.  There have been a lot.  The weather has been crazy this weekend.

Calm Between Storms

Lots more storms this evening.

July 22, 2017: Dominica’s Reunion Weekend

Dominica is still out in Utica, the girls are still visiting with her parents.  Dominica is at her sorority reunion weekend.  So it is still just dad and I down on the farm.  I worked most of the day, but we got a bit of time to visit.

This evening we went up to Batavia and had dinner at the Town and Country Diner, which is really good.

Dominica won a beer pong match at her reunion, which is totally not the kind of thing you would expect her to be good at.

Dad broke a tooth this evening while eating peanut butter.

My friend Phil, from Atlanta, got into town today, but I had no car so we could not hang out.  He’s heading up to Toronto to enjoy a weekend up there ahead of MangoCon back down here in Rochester this coming week.
