Sheep Guarding Llama

After a long day of writing we decided that tonight would be a family movie night.  Liesl and Luciana have been asking to see the new movie Trolls since it was in the theatres and it is available now on Amazon so we decided that they have wanted to see it for so long that it would be a good purchase.  Twenty dollars, still, but we buy movies so seldom these days it really is not a big deal.  We get fewer than ten movies a year, I would guess.  Maybe a lot less.

We all enjoyed the movie.  The girls loved it and we thought that it was cute.  Well done, good actors, fun story and great music.  Liesl is going to be watching this one over and over, I can tell.

Wednesday.  It probably goes without saying that time is really flying while we are here in Italy.  I’ve been very busy with writing and stuff and that has really made it seem like time is just whizzing by with reckless abandon.  A whole week will go by and I will not even realize it.

I was up early-ish this morning and got right down to work writing.  So much to be done.

With everything going on with work and jobs and projects and finances and whatnot I’ve been very “head down” and not doing much fun stuff and a bit behind on SGL.  Lots going on and we are figuring out our plans, but it is going to be a tough winter, I can tell.

School is going well for the girls and they are getting into a groove now.  Trying to get as much done as they can because it is only three weeks until Dominica has to take a week off to travel back to the States for the wedding.  She will be gone for just over a week at that point (but with two weekends in there, so only one week of school missed.)

Tuesday.  Our second week in Noto has begun.  Our Internet is back to normal this morning, which is slow but manageable. The wireless access point for the house fails every few hours which is rather a problem, but running down the stairs (it is a flight and a half here in this old stone house) and power cycling it by unplugging it from the wall, but it always seems to come back after one or two tries.  So we are making do.

I’ve been working on some web design stuff today, and I got an updated look for SMB IT Journal which is awesome.  It has been looking really dated and it looked like a blog rather than the magazine that it is.

Monday morning.  We started off the day with a double grocery run.  First down to the little local market and the panificio next door for the basics.  Then Dominica and I hiked down the hill to the big grocery store for more extensive supplies.  That takes at least an hour between all of the walking and the time in the store.

Today is our one week mark in Sicily.  Noto is a pretty cool town, we like it.

This evening our Internet went off, completely. Not off like something was wrong but more like we got turned off. So much for having things to do tonight.  Now I am very stressed out dealing with being offline for the night.

After several hours we came back on, just before midnight. It turned out that the Internet guy that supports the house was blocking our calls as they were coming from a US number – even though he knew that he was supposed to be looking for calls from the renter here. Argh.

Sunday.  We were a bit tired today after our exciting day of “seeing people in Noto” that we had not expected yesterday.  I had a lot of work to do as I needed to catch up after losing my entire day on Saturday so I was in the office working for much of the day.

Working on getting SGL back up to date.  We’ve had really bad Internet for a while that has made things very challenging.  But that was fixed (in the future) and going back and getting things updated will be much easier now.
