Sheep Guarding Llama

Saturday.  Tonight is the Halloween Fundraise that Dominica and I are attending with Estella and Zen.  Most of the day was just spent relaxing, although we had to prep for the party tonight.

It was a huge halloween party out in Plano, I think.  We went out there and the entire house was decked out in the most extreme decorations.  I heard that it takes three months to get the house ready for the party.  There was a DJ, bartenders and everything.  It was a really nice party.  Loads of people and food.  We had a good time.

It was pretty warm, however.  My costume was killing me, I was sweating like crazy.  I had to take most of it off and we spent most of the evening outside to get fresh air.  Although we did go dance for quite a while towards the end of the time.

We took Uber home, my first time ever, which is funny as we have two friends who are Uber drivers.

It was a nice party and it raised a lot of money for charity and we had a good time.

Friday.  Friends stopped over for coffee this morning.  Our house is a busy place these days.

For lunch I went down to “Fake Fernandos” and joined Rachel and her lunch crew.  We ate outside today, although the food really is not very good there.  I’m not sure that I should keep going there as it is too expensive for the food to be so blah.

Rachel came home with me today and the afternoon was spent talking to her about quitting her job and what her strategy should be as she is so stressed out and the job just does not make any sense for her and is actually losing her money rather than making it.  High stress, losing money – no bueno.

Rachel found out that her car is completely totaled.  The cost to fix it is way more than the car is worth.  Sadly she still owes nearly the entire cost of the car, she just got it.  So now she has no car, no way to fix it and owes the full cost of a car that she doesn’t have.

So it was a very busy day of everyone dealing with that and the car and all of the things going on around her job, travel plans and so forth.  Chris came over in the evening as well.  I got to play Skyrim for a while.  The girls and I played Castle Crashers a bit, as well.  They love that game.

Hung out with the kids tonight.  Won’t see them much this week.  Dominica and Rachel went out tonight so it was me and the girls.  We ordered in Domino’s Pizza and set up movies in the bedroom.  Both girls got into the Pink Panther movies.  We watched the “remake” original and then started watching one of the 1970s ones.  Both girls really liked the first one.  Only Liesl liked the old one.  It was The Pink Panther Strikes Again.

Thursday.  Almost time for SpiceWorld, only a few more days.  And almost time for Halloween.  A busy upcoming weekend.

We had Internet problems at the house today and I had a hard time getting anything done as it was so problematic.

Just a normal day of writing and posting.

This evening Shawn and I went out for some beers at the Drunken Donkey up in The Colony.  We walked in and before I even made it up to the bar the bartender looks up and sees me and is like “What are you doing in this country?”  It wasn’t Allie who used to bartend at Redneck and was the NTG bartender for our SpiceCorps meeting a few years ago.

Was up late last night so slept in quite a bit this morning.  Dominica made coffee and we hung out at the bar for a while.

This afternoon had me on a support call helping out an engineer for several hours.  So that ate up a lot of my day that I would have otherwise had to myself.

This evening, on her way home from work, Rachel’s Mazda RX-8 died on the highway.  This isn’t good, we only have the two cars between all of us.  She was stuck out on I35 for a long time until Chris was able to get out and get her.  I was going to go but Chris just showed up without warning her.

So Rachel’s car was towed to a nearby shop and she will know in a few days how bad it is, but we suspect that it is pretty bad.

This evening I played Skyrim until pretty late.  I had been up late last night so was not too tired when it got to be bedtime.

Tuesday.  Pretty normal day here.

The big thing that we did tonight was that Dominica and I had a movie night on the television that we have in our bedroom now and after many, many years we are finally able to sit down and watch The Usual Suspects together.  Dominica has never seen it and I am pretty sure that I have not watched it since seeing it on laserdisc long ago, possibly in the 1990s.

Sadly, Dominica already knew the plot twist so lacked the surprise that most of us get with that movie.  But she still liked it.  It is a classic and just so well done.  We have been talking about watching it, probably since we were dating.  And somehow it just got missed until now.
