October 19, 2016: Switching Rooms

Wednesday.  Today for lunch Dominica made homemade curry.

This afternoon Rachel switched bedrooms with us.  Until now she has been sleeping in the master suite and Dominica and I have been squeezed into Liesl’s old room (the small one towards the front of the house near the bar) along with tons of Rachel’s storage stuff.  But today we took the time to move our stuff between the rooms so that Dominica and I could have our old master back.

It’s neat being back in our old room, although it was interesting sleeping in Liesl’s old room, too.  Both girls had chosen Luciana’s old room as the place where they were going to be, anyway.

We ate dinner and watching That 70s Show before getting back to moving furniture and boxes.

Tonight Luciana randomly asked me if we could visit Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  You know that you are hard core travelers when your five year old randomly comes up with ideas like this.

I updated my business laptop from Ubuntu 16.04 to 16.10 this evening.

October 17, 2016: Sleeping in Late

It is Monday and, of course, I am still months behind on SGL updates.  I am writing many of these updates in January with loose notes from MangoLassi and Facebook to piece together my time.  I am working really hard to be fully caught up by January 15th, 2017.  That is my goal.  The updates from this fall are necessarily really lean.  But rest assured, not much is going on so you are not missing all that much.

I slept in very late this morning.  It was five when I got to bed this morning and then I slept in until around eleven.

I was not very busy today as I was so tired and slept through so much of the day.

October 16, 2016: Waiting on Rachel

Sunday.  I played some more Skyrim this morning.  Then this afternoon Dominica and Rachel were supposed to go out clothes shopping.  This turned into an entire afternoon of Dominica waiting on Rachel until the shops almost closed.  So a huge portion of the day was just sitting waiting to go at any moment.  I managed to game a lot today and the girls hung out doing their own thing playing games or whatever.  They tend to go into their bedroom and play imaginative games with their toys for a lot of the day.

We love how well the two of them play together still.    With the absence of peer pressure from being in a public school they are able to do better play and focus on cognitive growth more than kids often get to do.

Dominica and Rachel ended up going out tonight and I had to be the driver dealing with them till five in the morning.  So going to be super tired tomorrow.

October 15, 2016: Video Game Weekend

We were not up for long before Dominica declared today to be a video game day!  That never happens.  I guess Liesl having fun with her new Nintendo 3DS made Dominica jealous.  Rachel and Chris went to the local airshow today.  So we had the house to ourselves as the Millers.

I set up Skyrim in the living room and played that for quite a bit today.  The girls found it interesting and ended up hanging out with me and watching it quite a bit.

Dominica played some of “Doctor Who: The Adventure Game” today for family game afternoon.

This evening Dominica went out so I stayed home with the girls and they decided to do their own thing playing their games so I watched some of That 70s Show.  The girls and I ordered in Chinese delivery for dinner.

The girls and I played Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing.
