September 30, 2016: Herbie Rides Again

The last day of September, and it is Friday.  Where did the summer go.

Did my usual writing today.  Then this afternoon I had to run over to the Palestinian car shop down the street and get the Nissan Quest inspected so that I could send on the paperwork to New York so that we can get the car registered and our new license plates.  Passing inspection was easy.  Hopefully all of that paperwork completes quickly (spoiler: it doesn’t.)

Tonight we bought Herbie Rides Again on Amazon Video on Demand and watched it in the living room with the kids.  Liesl enjoyed it, Luciana was not very interested.  It was too slow for her.

We had tried watching The Love Bug when we lived in Nicaragua, so the girls know about Herbie a little.

September 29, 2016: Still Recovering

Thursday.  Felt pretty rough this morning.  I am forty (and a half) and sleeping on a concrete floor with just thin carpeting and a blanket beneath me is not a good way for me to sleep.  I am very soar today.

Just writing and posting today in the bedroom.  I have a table set up in there for me to work from.

Tonight we ordered in Chinese, not Panda Express.  We just got delivery.  It was pretty decent.  We have a few Chinese delivery places here.  Carrollton is pretty good for food and delivery.

September 27, 2016: Panda Express and Quiz Night

Tuesday.  We are slowly getting back to normal.  Today I am writing and posting all day.  We are kind of rested again, a little.

For lunch today we got Panda Express.  The girls have been waiting for this. Luciana got the sweet shrimp today and she loves it now.  So now Liesl eats the chow mein and Luciana eats the honey walnut shrimp (but not the walnuts.)

This evening Rachel, Chris, Brian and I went to Malarkey’s Quiz Night down on Trinity.  It was fun, but we lost horribly, again.  We are not good at this at all.

September 26, 2016: All Salad Day

Monday and our first day of full on “routine life in Dallas.”  We are here for the next five to six weeks and need to get to “normal” as quickly as possible after one of the most disruptive summers that we have had.  The last few months since leaving Romania have been crazy.  Between bouncing around from place to place and staying with family nearly full time all summer we have had no normalcy, no ability to control our schedules, no routine and no way to cook.

Today, our meals are nothing but salads, Liesl is spending the day doing school and I spent the day writing.  A normal routine, for the first time in three years, here in the Carrollton house.

It was a productive day, we were very busy the entire day.  The weather was great, too.  About seventy degrees and a light rain for part of the day.  We opened doors and got some fresh air in the house in the afternoon.  That was a really nice change.  We so rarely get to do that in Texas.

This evening I went to Walmart and bought a 40″, American made television as we have nothing at all at the house on which to watch anything.

The TV turned out to have been broken in shipping.  So I had to load it back up, run back to Walmart and exchange it.  But Walmart is so good about that stuff.  So we had a working television after not too long.  Only $198 for a 1080p American made 40″ LCD.  I can live with that.

Rachel had to go to the office today.  So we did not see her until late and she took a nap as soon as she got home.  So we did not get to see her very much.
