April 8, 2014: Movie Night

Started the day working offsite in Wilton.  That let me sleep in a little.

Dominica made really awesome pizza tonight.  The girls really loved it.  We ate two whole pizzas in minutes.

Tonight we watched Robin Hood: Men in Tights which I do not believe that I have seen since it was originally in theatres.  Luciana put herself to bed almost as soon as I got home.   Liesl didn’t hang out with us for very long, she wanted to watch some Care Bear movies so she went up to our room and watching movies on her iPad in our bed.

Dominica wanted to watch Bedazzled so we watched that which, like the last one, I’ve not seen since it originally released.  It is better than I remember.

April 7, 2014: Bourbon Cupcakes

It is Monday and I am back in the office, of course.  My schedule is relatively well regulated for the first time, well, maybe ever.

The weather is great today, almost sixty degrees.  I got home this evening and Dominica had baked cupcakes.  Fruity ones for the girls and bourbon ones for us.  They were very good.

This evening we watched John Huston’s 1951 Academy Award winning film about the First World War in German East Africa with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn: “The African Queen.”  It was rather a good film and both Dominica and my first time watching it.  Liesl even snuggled with us on the couch and watched the whole thing with us.

April 6, 2014: More Rug Doctor

We really slept in this morning.  Liesl came in and snuggled for a while but finally made me get up to get her her morning chocolate milk.  Dominica slept in a little while longer with Liesl in bed watching her iPad.  Luciana slept in for another hour or so.

Pretty much first thing I set about running the Rug Doctor again for another several runs through the living room.  The floor was almost completely dry from yesterday since we were able to have the windows open.  So I did a ton of more carpet cleaning today.  It is really doing a lot of repair the carpet.

This afternoon we set about going through lots and lots of boxes that have been sitting since we moved into the house.  There is so much stuff to be gone through still.  Danielle is coming by in a week and we have to have stuff ready for her to take as well as she is taking a bit of stuff back up north with her.  We don’t want to miss our chance for things to ship out.

The house is looking much better.  There is more space to move around.

The girls played outside for quite a while.  The day was gorgeous.  Warm and bright sun.

Tonight we watched the remaining episodes of “How I Met Your Mother”, we are now all caught up and ready to watch the final season when it finally makes it to Netflix. Such a great show.

April 5, 2014: Rug Doctoring the Peekskill House

Slept in very late this morning.  Feeling good after that.  I slept in so long that Liesl came and climbed into bed with us.  She is so snugly.  But we couldn’t stay long because Liesl wanted her morning chocolate milk.  So I got that and an iPad for her and she hung out in bed for a while relaxing and watching a show.  Luciana slept in for another hour or two.

Dominica and I caught up on “The Mindy Project” today and then moved on to watching “Community”, which we love.

I used the Rug Doctor for the first time in Peekskill today and cleaned a large section of the living room carpet.  The carpets really need it.  They have not been cleaned at all since I did the shampooing with the Kirby five years ago.  I’ve done some hand scrubbing of the carpets during the past week and it left really obvious clean spots on the floor that look ridiculous.  So I am trying to get it all clean now.

Dominica ran out and did a little grocery shopping in the early afternoon.  We are low on things and she is making another batch of bagels today.

Dominica discovered a new BBC show (new to us, not new in general) that she started watching todayLark Rise to Candleford.  She watched a lot of that this evening.  I worked down in the basement, not wanting to get addicted to a new show.

April 4, 2014: Dominica Makes Bagels

Finally Friday.  It feels like it has been a long week.

At happy hour this evening there were Drunken Donuts which were awesome.  The butterscotch ones were especially good.  Unbelievably good.

After the girls went to bed tonight Dominica made home made sesame bagels and we watched John Woo’s 1989 classic “The Killer” which I loved back in my laserdisc days.  Dominica liked it but did not appreciate it in the “Hong Kong game defining film” way that I do.

One movie and it was off to bed for us.
