April 6, 2014: More Rug Doctor

We really slept in this morning.  Liesl came in and snuggled for a while but finally made me get up to get her her morning chocolate milk.  Dominica slept in a little while longer with Liesl in bed watching her iPad.  Luciana slept in for another hour or so.

Pretty much first thing I set about running the Rug Doctor again for another several runs through the living room.  The floor was almost completely dry from yesterday since we were able to have the windows open.  So I did a ton of more carpet cleaning today.  It is really doing a lot of repair the carpet.

This afternoon we set about going through lots and lots of boxes that have been sitting since we moved into the house.  There is so much stuff to be gone through still.  Danielle is coming by in a week and we have to have stuff ready for her to take as well as she is taking a bit of stuff back up north with her.  We don’t want to miss our chance for things to ship out.

The house is looking much better.  There is more space to move around.

The girls played outside for quite a while.  The day was gorgeous.  Warm and bright sun.

Tonight we watched the remaining episodes of “How I Met Your Mother”, we are now all caught up and ready to watch the final season when it finally makes it to Netflix. Such a great show.

April 5, 2014: Rug Doctoring the Peekskill House

Slept in very late this morning.  Feeling good after that.  I slept in so long that Liesl came and climbed into bed with us.  She is so snugly.  But we couldn’t stay long because Liesl wanted her morning chocolate milk.  So I got that and an iPad for her and she hung out in bed for a while relaxing and watching a show.  Luciana slept in for another hour or two.

Dominica and I caught up on “The Mindy Project” today and then moved on to watching “Community”, which we love.

I used the Rug Doctor for the first time in Peekskill today and cleaned a large section of the living room carpet.  The carpets really need it.  They have not been cleaned at all since I did the shampooing with the Kirby five years ago.  I’ve done some hand scrubbing of the carpets during the past week and it left really obvious clean spots on the floor that look ridiculous.  So I am trying to get it all clean now.

Dominica ran out and did a little grocery shopping in the early afternoon.  We are low on things and she is making another batch of bagels today.

Dominica discovered a new BBC show (new to us, not new in general) that she started watching todayLark Rise to Candleford.  She watched a lot of that this evening.  I worked down in the basement, not wanting to get addicted to a new show.

April 4, 2014: Dominica Makes Bagels

Finally Friday.  It feels like it has been a long week.

At happy hour this evening there were Drunken Donuts which were awesome.  The butterscotch ones were especially good.  Unbelievably good.

After the girls went to bed tonight Dominica made home made sesame bagels and we watched John Woo’s 1989 classic “The Killer” which I loved back in my laserdisc days.  Dominica liked it but did not appreciate it in the “Hong Kong game defining film” way that I do.

One movie and it was off to bed for us.

April 3, 2014: Funny Face

After work, I came home and we found that Liesl still had her splinter.  We watched Funny Face tonight, which strangely I have never seen before.  Not the best classic film but a well known one.

I honestly put the girls to bed and went straight to bed myself at ten.  Dominica stayed up to watch Charade after I went to bed.

April 2, 2014: Liesl’s First Splinter

Liesl had insomnia last night and came in to sleep with us. Even now that she is five and a half and Luciana is not quite three, Liesl is still the one that asks to sleep with us at least three quarters of the time. It was so warm tonight that we had the bedroom window open and had fresh air. Finally, we’ve been missing that. Dominica has been opening the back door a bit recently too. We are so tired of the winter. Time for it to be over.

I got up early this morning, it was just after five. But I couldn’t bring myself to get out of bed for a while. Liesl was very snuggly and the birds were out singing which was great with the window open. So I was lazy.

Got up still relatively early and took care of some bills and stuff before heading into the office. Traffic was horrible this morning and it took at least half an hour longer than it should have to get to work. That did not make me happy at all.

It was chilly when I headed out this morning but got into the fifties today and was a very nice day. I wish that I could have been outside for a bit. Maybe spring is actually here.

Good, productive day at work today and thank goodness the weather is great now. It is warm, pushing into the high fifties, and sunny. Very nice. At home, Dominica opened up the windows and made the back deck accessible and the girls spent a lot of time playing outside today getting some fresh air. Dominica missed not having a deck at our Texas house, I can tell, a place where the girls can just go outside and play and she does not need to monitor them because they are essentially inside of the house. Liesl had that when she was two and we lived in the apartment in Texas because we had that tiny balcony but Luciana never lived there. It’s a nice feature to have.

While they were outside, Liesl was running her hand along the railing and got herself her very first splinter. She didn’t know what to do and ended up breaking it off and getting it buried deep in her finger so she just had to wait for it to work itself out which is going to take a while.

Came home and we had a nice evening just hanging out as the family. Nothing exciting tonight, but a lot of family time.
