March 12, 2014: The New Tea Set

This morning my day started off with me working at an offsite location, always a nice change of pace.  That ate up the bulk of my morning so I was “out” until almost lunch.

Overall it was a pretty busy day and I did not managed to head home until seven.  Today the girls’ new tea set that Dominica ordered for them the other day arrived.  The girls have been playing with Liesl’s old tea set for a long time but it is just a play tea set, not a real one.  This one is actually able to be used for tea and they were so excited to get it.

When I finally got home tonight, the girls met me at the door and were so happy to get to show me their new tea set.  The whole living room floor was wet with all of the water that they had been spilling there all day.  They were really having a good time, though.

Before nine, Luciana just decided that she wanted to go to bed and at a quarter till ten Liesl decided that she wanted to.   Very strange children volunteering to go to bed early.

I had a call at ten and did that for forty five minutes.  Then straight to bed myself.  Going to bed would have gone much more quickly had I not lost my iPhone (in a pile of laundry on our bed) which resulted in me spending at least half an hour looking for it.

March 10, 2014: One Week In

It’s Monday so back to work. The weather was decently warm today. I was feeling a little tired, though. Not much to report from the office, except that I got a new desktop today. Quad core i7 and 16GB of RAM. Pretty impressive as office machines go. I have never had anything like this before.

Today was the one week mark at MangoLassi. Hard to believe it has only been one week, there has been so much great activity there. It has been an exciting week.

I left work just before six thirty. Once home we spent the evening down in the basement which we are so thankful to have gotten so much cleaner recently. It is decently comfortable down there these days. Luciana came down to the basement with us and mostly just played on her own quietly. Liesl decided to stay upstairs and watch her own shows by herself. I guess that she needed some quiet time. Liesl told me that she spent her day today watching Futurama. I thought that that was pretty funny.

Dominica and I have been watching Keeping Up Appearances again. Actually she has been watching it while I listen. I have been spending evenings at the desk in the basement getting work done.

Luciana has started going to bed earlier as she has not been getting enough sleep.  So she was in bed before nine. Liesl is a night owl and was up till almost midnight when she and Dominica went to bed. I ended up staying up till after three thirty! Going to be on the tired side tomorrow for sure.

March 9, 2014: Diane and Arael Return Home

We all bundled into the Acadia this morning and took Diana down to the train station so that she could go into the city.  Arael decided to stay back.  So after Diane took off we all went to the Westchester Diner and got some lunch.  The girls were begging for pancakes.  We had a nice breakfast, everyone really enjoyed it.

It was a pretty quiet afternoon at the house.  The girls played with Arael the whole time.  Diane didn’t spend a lot of time in the city and late afternoon I drove down to Croton-Harmon and picked her up.  They had to get on the road to drive back up to the north country so they could not stay for long.  It was pretty much straight back to the house, back the car and go.

We had a quiet Sunday evening at home.  Liesl and Luciana just cried and cried, they were so sad that Arael had left.  They love having her here.

March 8, 2014: Diane and Arael Go to New York

Relaxing morning.  Spent a lot of it just hanging out in the living room.  Dominica worked with Diane on her MacBook doing technical support for several hours and we just visited.  Nice having time to catch up and a chance to just relax.  Arael kept the girls occupied so we saw very little of them.

In the early afternoon Dominica took Diane and Arael to the Peekskill train station and they took Metro North down into the city.  This is Arael’s first time in New York City.  They had a busy day around the Times Square area and in the evening they managed to go see Roger and Hammerstein’s revival of “Cinderella” which they said was amazing.

In the evening, late evening, I went down to Croton-Harmon station and picked them up.  They survived their first day in NYC.
