March 7, 2014: Diane and Arael Come to Visit

It is Friday and today was a mostly normal day at work.  Long day but not bad or anything weird.  Had to work a little bit late this evening.  Got home before Diane and Arael arrived who were driving down from the Adirondacks.  They were in Albany before I left the office so were expected soon.

I got home, my gas mileage is now at 34.9MPG, I’m not sure if I have reported that yet.  So happy with how this car is handling the daily commute. It’s not fast or flashy but it is comfortable and cost effective.  I can’t believe how cheaply I can drive it all over.

Diane and Arael arrived not too long after I got home.  Liesl and Luciana were very excited that their older cousin was here.  They always have a great time together and see each other very seldom.

We all hung out for a while.  Not too late we put our girls to bed, they will be sleeping in our bed with us this weekend.  Then we left Arael at the house to babysit and Dominica, Diane and I went down the hill to the Peekskill Brewery for the evening.

We had a good evening at the brewery.  The beer is really excellent there and they have a huge selection.  Dominica loved it.  She has not been there in about five years.  We took Liesl there once for dinner when she was a few months old.  We even got a growler before we left.  That’s our new way to get beer.  So much better than getting a six pack.

March 6, 2014: Offsite Day

Today was an interesting day for me.  I got to head into the office as normal this morning but was only there for half an hour at most before running out to another office site where I would be working for the rest of the day directly with another team.  I love these days, not because the work is more fun but only because the change of pace is so dramatic.

So I got to spend the entire day offsite in an office doing very different work that I normally do on a day to day basis and dealing with different people than I normally deal with.  This breaks up my week and almost feels like I had a day off from work.  None of the normal drudgery, even different views out of the windows.  Being an extrovert is handy, all it takes is a day in a different office with different people to talk to to make it seem like I completely had the day off.

Nothing too exciting to report today but it was a good day overall.

Some cleaning tonight as we have guests coming for the weekend tomorrow night.

March 5, 2014: Westport Seminar

Today is my long day at work because I am staying after normal hours to attend a seminar that I am very interested in that was rescheduled from a month ago due to the inclement weather that we had been having at the time.

Work was good and I got to leave the office a little early to go into Westport to go to the playhouse there.   It was a great layout with good food, desserts and drinks.  The seminar, about finding benefits from adversity, was really good.  I am glad that I went.

I did not get to leave Westport until nearly nine so it was about ten when I got home, just in time to put the girls to bed.  It was a very long day for me.

March 4, 2014: Day Two

A relatively uneventful day.  Went to work as usual today.  Nothing on my calendar is left to remind me of what happened so I am thinking that it was pretty low key.  If I remember correctly I was stuck working late today but I do not remember for sure.  This week was so busy with so many other things that I really do not remember.

MangoLassi is doing very well today, everyone is happy with the progress as the site goes into its second day.

I am pretty tired.  It was a long weekend.  Dominica’s cousins are coming on Friday to stay with us for the weekend.  Tomorrow night I am staying late at work to go to a seminar and will not be home until the girls are getting ready for bed.

March 3, 2014: Mango Lassi

This morning there is a new, online vendor neutral community for IT professionals to network and learn: MangoLassi.  I am very excited about it.  I am dedicated to the importance of networking and social community within the IT industry and, of late, the value of the existing venues for this has been decreasing horribly.  I have high hopes for this new community.

Today is Monday, back to work today.  Overall a slow day.  But a good day.  Watching MangoLassi mature over the course of the day was very interesting.  It seems to be going really well.  People are loving it and lots of people are signing up already.  Very cool to watch it go.  The platform is fast and easy to use, much better than what I am used to from that “other community” over the past eight years.
