April 12, 2013: New Subway

I came home at lunch today to help out Dominica with something.  As I was driving home to drop off some keys that I had picked up for her at her office I noticed that the new Subway around the corner from our house was having their grand opening today so I decided that it would be a good evening to stop in there as they were doing full meals for just $1.99.  Can’t beat that so we will definitely give them a try.

Work went really late today.  I didn’t manage to leave the office until around nine and at that point I was forcibly making people roll over to the next region of support.  Had they had their way I would have worked all through the night.

I ran home and made it to Subway just before they closed.  I got us six meals (each meal is just half a sub) and we spent almost nothing for a huge dinner for all four of us.  We watched Community for the very tiny bit of evening that we had left and were pretty much right off to bed.  Not much of a day.  These 14+ hour Fridays are no fun.

April 11, 2013: Thursday

I went into the office today.  Yes I actually made it in four days this week, hard to believe, I know.  On the way home I swung into the Subway next to my office, grabbed dinner and brought it home.  We really should not be eating the carbs but at least Subway is not too bad on the calories and is decently healthy in the grand scheme of things.  So I brought home dinner and we ate at home.

April 10, 2013: Dinner from Brookhaven

Uneventful work day.  Dominica was in the mood for Brookhaven but did not want to go anywhere so she sent me over to the club after I got out of work to get take away to bring back home.  They had a wasabi ahi tuna on special tonight and that sounded like a nice change of pace so I got that and Dominica got bass.  That was our excitement for the day.

April 9, 2013: Tuesday

Not much to report today.  Had an early call at eight thirty this morning then into the office.  This evening I ran an online training session for basic networking.  I’ve been so tired, though, that I was completely scattered and it was pretty much useless for everyone involved.  The last few weeks have been just way too busy and I am completely worn out.  I have too many different things all going on at once and it is causing me to be unable to focus which just makes everything else worse.  Oh well, only so much longer before school wraps up and that will help a lot.  Losing several hours of my weekends to that every weekend plus the time during the week really takes a toll.  I have to dedicate a lot of my most productive time to that and it is very hard to recoup that in any way.

April 8, 2013: Kicking Off Another Week

It’s Monday at home with the girls and Dominica is at the office.  What a month April is proving to be.  Super busy and super stressful.  We found out that there are issues getting us paid this month and by the time that I finally get a paycheck, if all goes well, it will be over a month since my last one!  That is pretty stressful.  Not that money has been super tight, it hasn’t, but it hasn’t been abundant either.  With me taking my grad classes and paying for them out of pocket and with our renters in New York losing their jobs and not being able to pay even one third of our mortgage there (and then losing their jobs entirely and needing to leave but at the last minute being able to stay at the reduced rate) we are just in really rough shape.  If I get paid regularly and Dominica keeps working like she has been all is fine but going five weeks without a paycheck really hits hard.

I had a pretty busy day at home.  The girls are getting better and better, for the most part, with being home with me and understanding that they cannot be in my office bugging me all of the time.  It sucks because I am home and want to be able to spend time with them but they really don’t understand that to be able to spend time with them I need to be able to check things constantly and when I am needed, I am needed instantly.  So they get far, far less time with me than they would if they were able to let me hang out with them when I can and really work when I have to.  So I am stuck not playing with them much at all because they don’t let me get to work when necessary.  We really wish that we had a nanny – it would make life so much easier.  Of course, everyone with kids says that so that doesn’t mean much.  Like everyone wishes they had a mechanic who just waiting in the garage until the car needed maintenance.

We have a busy weekend coming up.  Another email migration so Dominica is not looking forward to that.  It’s another busy week here in the Miller household.
