April 7, 2013: End of a Quiet Weekend

The end of the weekend.  We took today to mostly just hang out at home.  Not too much work going on today so we were able to spend some time as a family.  With my school, though, every Sunday is a bit of work that can’t be avoided.  I cannot wait until that is done.  I have about five weeks left to go at this point, I believe.

This evening I drove down to Josey Ranch and picked up Subway for dinner.  I normally get two tuna salad subs on wheat for Dominica and I and a cheese on Italian for Liesl.  I brought food home and we watching Community, which is our new favourite show, and ate our dinners.

April 6, 2013: Weekend at Home

After being in California last week and weekend and then Easter in Houston and getting back late to Dallas this was just a week of attempting to play catch up with our schedules.  Today is our quiet home day, we didn’t go anywhere or really do anything.  Just a lot of catching up around the house.  Got it cleaned up a bit.  We are all glad to be home.  I’m starting to fall behind on SGL, so much going on I just can’t get to it.

April 4, 2013: Home Day

Today is my work from home day this week while Dominica is in the office.  So I got to spend the day with my girls.  They are getting better and better at being good when I am home.  They are used to not being able to be in my office all of the time and making lots of noise.  Luciana is finally old enough that she and Liesl can play games together all day long too which is great.  They are getting to be really good at entertaining themselves in fun, social, educational activity.  Liesl is great at making up games and Luciana just loves following along after her participating in whatever she can.  They are so cute.

April 3, 2013: Susan in Dallas

I had to get up early this morning and get signed in so that I could make sure that no disasters were happening after the test from last night.  And thus began a very long day.

I had just an insanely busy morning jumping from one thing to another.  It was a busy day.

After work I ran home early to see the family for just a little bit and then drove down to Trinity Mills Station and caught the train downtown.  Susan is in town just for this evening and we were meeting downtown to catch up.  We haven’t seen her in years since we moved out of New Jersey.  So nearly four years now.  Dominica was trying to go but we couldn’t get a babysitter for tonight so it was just be going down.  Susan will be back in a few months and will stay longer so that she can actually visit when she is back.

The train ride was fine but the rain started to pick up a little on the ride and was coming down well once I got to Akard Station.  I walked down to the Adolphus Hotel and dried off a bit and met Susan there but we decided to just walk up the block to the Tower Club and do dinner there.  It is Susan’s first time in Dallas and there is no better introduction to the town that the view from the Tower.

We had a nice evening but I had to run for the train after dinner in the pouring rain.  It was a very wet night.
