Really nothing to say about today. I’m slowly catching up with SGL. I was in the office today. I spent the evening with the family. That is all.
August 7, 2012: Movie Lunch Number Two
I worked from home today. Still very hot in Dallas. Can’t wait for this heat wave to break. It doesn’t look like it will be anything like last year, but we don’t want it to be anything like last year either. Most of the country is in a horrible drought. We are pretty dry here but not nearly as dry as last year.
I had another lunch meeting with the studios today. This one was a bit earlier so that is why I worked from home today. Lunch went well. I am learning a lot at these meetings. I never knew so much about the movie industry.
Spent the afternoon and evening just with the family. We went out to Denny’s for dinner and Yoghurtland for froyo again today. Denny’s has these new fish tacos that we really like.
August 6, 2012: Movie Lunch
I was in the office today. It’s another hot day in Texas. The family is home.
At lunch today I actually went to meet with a movie production studio which was pretty cool. I learned a lot today. Did not end up having lunch, though, because the menu was old and when I ordered fish the restaurant substituted turkey as the “closest thing.” Not quite Panera, there is an awfully big difference between fish and poultry. Calories are not the predominant decider in the taxonomy of food.
Came home this evening and hung out with the family. Boy is it good to have them home again.
On the way home from work tonight I picked up Rockfish to take home. Sadly the mushroom cream sauce that Dominica really likes is no longer available.
August 5, 2011: Family Day
Our first day of completely home and “back to normal.” It is Sunday so our day just to stay home and be together as a family.
Our only outing today was to go out for Denny’s for an early dinner and then out for frozen yoghurt.
We really didn’t do anything today. Just camped out in the play room together as a family and decompressed. What an insanely busy past three months it has been. I can’t believe that we are finally ready to start getting back to normal.
Now to see if I can every catch back up on SGL.
August 4, 2012: The Family Returns
Finally today is my day to get my family back.
Dominica and the girls were originally going to come back first thing this morning from Cedar Creek Lake, but before they could leave Bennie discovered a problem with the boat trailer so they stayed behind for a while to make sure that the rest of the family was able to get out onto the road. Let me tell you, Bennie’s boat definitely eliminates the slightest hint of any desire that I may have ever had to own a boat. Should I ever suggest that I might want a boat someday, please People of the Internet, remind me of this week.
So it was hours later than planned that Dominica and the girls left the lake and drove back to the house so I did not get to see them until early afternoon. The family going down to Houston took all day to do so because they had to drive so slowly and on backroads because the trailer was not very reliable.
It was great to get everyone home this afternoon. It has been so long since we have been just home as a family without a pending trip or something hanging over us. Nothing scheduled except for a few days in Austin in October for us from here on in. This is our first time in months that we are home, for a long time, as a family and can begin the process of getting back to normal. We really need that.
