September 20, 2011: Very Long Day

Medifast Status: Day 141, Down ~58.5lbs

Had another early morning meeting today.  And, as we had guessed, the organizer did not show up.  We would have been pretty surprised if he had shown up at this point.  But we figured he might show up and act like nothing was wrong.  Nope.

At seven I had a phone conference with my team members from my master’s class at RIT.  We spent half an hour or so discussing what we were going to do about our team project.

And another meeting, same story.  It’s going to be a long day, no way around that now.  It has been a stressful week too.

Time was tight for lunch today as there are meetings at one this afternoon so Nicki and I went to La Cima and grabbed lunch before running back for our meetings.  Two more meetings in the early afternoon.

Lots of stuff going on today.  Just one of those days that happens sometimes.  This evening we ended up having a last minute meetings so it feels like my entire day has been meetings.  But lots of stuff getting done.

I got to watch a demo tonight on using SugarCRM for ticketing.  Nothing too exciting but it looks like it does the basics pretty decently.  It is certainly faster than SpiceWorks.  Neither has the style of interface or usability that I would like to see, however, considering both are free, that says a lot.

It was a very long day.  I was totally worn out tonight.  We watched a little Voyager and were off to bed.

September 19, 2011: No, I Love YOU

Medifast Status: Day 140, Down ~58.5lbs

Got up early this morning for a meeting that never happened.  That is rather annoying.  It ended up being two skipped meetings this morning.  What a waste of time.  Very frustrating for everyone when the organizer of a meeting is the one that decides to skip.  How important could it really have been?

Early this morning I needed some coffee and felt like a walk so I walked down to the French cafe on the corner, a decent walking distance, and sat outside listening to my book for a little while drinking my coffee and enjoying the now much cooler Texas weather.

So I got into the office and wasn’t there for very long before Dominica decided that she did not have anything to eat in the house ready for us today so she came to the office and picked me up and we went with the girls to La Cima.  It was an interesting meal today, kind of a seafood and fish stew that was boiled down and a spinach casserole.

After work I decided to just relax tonight with the family.  We got very little time together over the weekend so it was nice to just relax tonight.  Tomorrow is going to be extra busy with morning meetings at six, seven and eight in the morning.  The meetings during lunch too.

Luciana was an insomniac this evening.  She napped a little here and there but very little and did not go to bed until after Liesl and I did at around eleven!  That is not good for the baby.

We are still watching Voyager.  We are nearly through the third season.  Good stuff.  Liesl was very affectionate tonight.  One of her new games is the “No! I love YOU!” game that she plays after you tell her that you love her.  It is so sweet.

September 18, 2011: First Homework Done in a While

Medifast Status: Day 139, Down ~58.5lbs

I slept in quite a bit this morning.  Dominica was up at seven thirty but I did not get up for another two hours.  Oreo was in a “needing his daddy” mood since yesterday and there is just no way to resist a snugly Boston Terrier.  I needed the sleep anyway, both from the week and from exercising last night.  I still felt it a little bit this morning when I got up.

Today was another busy day.  I had to work for the office quit a bit and I had a lot of homework for RIT that needed my attention.  Hardly a way to have a relaxing weekend.

I did get some time with the family.  In between things I would come out and hang out in the play room.  Oreo really needed me today.  Whenever I would sit down he would climb up in my lap.  Maybe he is not feeling well.

I had to work much of the day and my homework this evening turned into quite a project.  I put in three or four solid hours in my office just trying to get my work done late this evening.  It was exhausting.  At least I got everything turned in that was needed.  Or so I think.

It was a tiring day.  I’m not sure that I got any relaxing done, really.

September 17, 2011: Starting Walking

Medifast Status: Day 138, Down ~57lbs

It just struck me that 2011 is nearly over.  This year and flown by like nobody’s business.  Between buying a new house just before the new year began and having our second child it has just been a whirlwind.

Today is a stay at home day.  I got up and hung out with the girls for a little bit but had to be online nearly the entire day with the office.

When we had time I would come into the play room and watch some Voyager with the family but mostly I had to work.  It was a very long day.

This evening, around eleven, I took some time to go out and get some exercise.  I went for a walk of around two miles, a very light walk.  I did a little jogging, just a little bit, two sets of three minutes.  It puts me not too far behind Dominica and Francesca if I can keep it up.  My schedule makes that very challenging, though.

On my walk I finished reading David McCullough’s “The Greater Journey” the history of Americans in Paris during the nineteenth century.  Don’t let the topic mislead you – it was very interesting.  I then started reading Paul Herrmann’s 1958 “The Great Age of Discovery“.  I hope to be doing a lot more walking now that the weather is nice.  What a different place Texas is this week compared to last.

I came home and it was time for bed.

September 16, 2011: High Weigh In

Medifast Status: Day 137, Down ~57lbs

I was in to the office around seven this morning.  I was supposed to have a call this morning but my phone was dead so it is for this evening now.

The morning was a little busy so I did not manage to go to Medifast early like I like to so that I can get my weigh-in out of the way before lunch.

For lunch, Dominica did not want to come down to Irving and I did not have enough time to go home and come back.  So Nicki and I went to La Cima and did a quick lunch off of the buffet and then I ran directly over to Medifast.  That combination of things caused today to be my first time weighing in heavier than I was a week ago.  Now last week was a major drop for me and today I weighed in completely “wrong” so I am not concerned but it is depressing to have a week where you lose ground rather than having that progress to encourage me to continue.

Work went really late tonight.  It was after seven, I believe, when I headed home.  I tried to have my call then but no one showed up.  Interesting.  I wonder what is up.

Did nothing this evening, just watched Star Trek: Voyager with the family.  We are really into this series now.  It is great.  Pretty silly at times, but so was TNG.  Voyager is surprisingly reminiscent of TNG, though, which I was not expecting.  It really kept the spirit of that series while folding in the story line of Battlestar Galactica.

I am home all weekend but I am the on call this weekend so I will be tied to the house and likely doing quite a bit of work.
