May 9, 2004: Happy Mother’s Day

All of these updates. You guys just don’t know what to do with yourselves, I am sure. Even bigger news than that I am starting to keep the site up to date again is that updates from Anne are coming in again. She has actually been waiting for me to get my butt into gear to get the pages in place for a ridiculously long time but they are finally up now so you can work you way through the Bios page and over to see all of her updates, there are quite a few. She is working her way back to having a major portion of our content in her section. She is living in Senegal right now so you can learn all about her adventures there.

Min and I are in Frankfort today. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone to whom it applies.

Min and I are heading out to Frankfort later today. We slept in late (Min says that it is my fault for being up so late playing the game last night.) Then we hit the Omega Grill for lunch which was really dumb because today was Geneseo’s graduation and the place was totally packed. So that took a lot longer than we had hoped that it would. But we were killing some time because we needed to pick up some medicine from Wegmans that needed to be prepared. So it worked out alright.

We got to Utica around 5:30 but ended up not getting to Min’s parent’s house until more like 7:00. We did some shopping at Barnes and Nobles and I found a great new book there (Windows Server Hacks) and we also went to AC Moore because they have lots of cheap yarn for Min. Then as we were heading back we noticed a new restaurant out on Oriskany called Chips Fish Fry. Well, we couldn’t pass that up so we turned around and went back. It is in the old Arthor Treacher’s Fish and Chips building (which is very sad because I have been wanting to eat at one of those for so many years now I can’t even tell you – I used to eat at one of them all of the time when I was quite young and they still had one open in Batavia.) So we got the fish fry dinners. Now, keeping in mind that this is breaded fish and I normally only like beer battered, this was one of the best fish frys I have ever had. It was really amazing. The place is a new place owned by the guys who own Zebbs. Let me tell you, Zebbs is one of the few things that makes me miss eating meat. The Crooked Board is another (honey BBQ wings!!)

Min’s parents were at a wedding at the casino so we watched The Italian Job and Kill Bill while they were gone. Kill Bill was good but we didn’t think that it was anything really amazing. We both enjoyed it but I think that it is really over-hyped. But I did really end up liking The Italian Job, I was very happy with it. Of course, I have a thing for Mini Coopers 😉

Two weeks since the last game. Phil called Min and apologized for leaving Mt. Dew containers around two weeks ago so he is allowed to come to the game tonight. Phil and Jeremy ended up coming over and Min joined us. We ended up playing from 8:00 until 2:00. We had a good time. We have learned that we just don’t enjoy playing in unbalanced teams so we are trying to avoid that happening from now on.

I installed solar powered walkway lights yesterday morning and they are all charged up today and we get to use them for the first time. They turned out to be really nice. I really like them. They are supposed to be white but they are slightly bluish. They were really inexpensive. We got them on sale at Wegmans. My dad thought that they would probably only last until 9:00 at night or so but they seem to last all night. I checked them at 4:00am and they were working just fine. So we are planning on picking up another package of them so that we will have eight total. Four of them don’t really light up very much of the sidewalk to be as useful as we would like.

Min did a bit of gardening today. We have a small garden spot in front of the sidewalk leading up to the front door and it needed weeded badly. So she went out there and worked for hours getting it into really nice shape. We have to work pretty hard at that because all of the neighbors have really nicely manicured little garden areas and we don’t want to get left behind.

Ok, ok, it has been forever since I updated the site. This past month has been really hectic. I even did a few updates previously and didn’t even manage to get them posted. How terrible is that. I had a number of things happen last month that really slowed down my posting… new main desktop, my laptop got reinstalled, etc., etc. I have been doing a ton or classwork for college too. I have been in full swing at Empire State now for two full weeks and that is a lot of added work. I am doing a full sixteen credit course load this summer and it keeps me pretty busy. I am still on target to graduate before the end of the year. So that is making me really tired. But things are going well so that is good.

I had a lunch meeting today with the yellow pages for Rochester. We are putting a bigger ad in next year so look for us!

Josh and I managed to get together and play some golf this afternoon. This was my first game in two years and Josh’s first since last season. We sucked. Holy cow are we bad. But that is okay. The weather was amazing for the first seven holes up at Genesee in Brighton. But we got called in because a thunderstorm hit so we didn’t manage to finish. That is just as well, we were already over par (for all nine holes that is.) After the rain hit, we headed up to Tahou’s for some garbage plates. They were really good. I haven’t had a plate in a really long time because everytime that we go there they end up not having eggs that night. It was yummy.

I got home two hours before Min had to go to work. We watched a little projector and then she headed off to work. The thunderstorm was causing the power to go in and out so I had to make sure that all of the computers were turned off. So I went to bed early to take advantage of not being allowed to do any work.

I will do my best to keep the updates rolling in, I know it has been a dry spell.

April 20, 2004

Sorry about the long delay in posting, it has been a really busy week and I switched my main computer over which meant that I had a few days with no access to my files. It has made for a busy week.

Dominica worked this morning at Keshequa and I got up with her to go to a Microsoft show in Rochester. I got up there early in the morning just to discover that I am a total idiot and the show was actually in NYC – not Rochester. So that was a total waste of time. So I headed on over to the hospital for a little while and then Eric and I went out and got some breakfast at Mel’s Diner.

I had to run down to Dansville to do some work this afternoon. I ended up working all afternoon down there.

Min made dinner for me when I got home. We watched some movies and I worked on our new Netgear VPN accellerator that we have now. I need to get it set up tonight because I am going to be out all day tomorrow. Phil and I are driving down to Binghamton first thing in the morning. We are picking up some equipment down there, so that will take most of the day. Phil and Min are both working overnights tonight so they will both be really tired tomorrow.
