November 23, 2017: Thanksgiving

Thursday. Happy Thanksgiving!

Lots of cooking today, of course.  Hung out in the kitchen this morning with Dominica while she was making dinner.

Dominica Making Deviled Eggs

The kids played Skyrim all day.  That is their thing these days.  Liesl, Luciana, and Garrett are all really into it.  Clara will play it, but doesn’t really get it and doesn’t find it very interesting, but plays it because all of the others do.

Big family dinner at the Grices’ new home.  First really big event here.  They’ve barely had time to move in before this one.

November 22, 2017: Skyrim Day in Houston

Wednesday.  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.

We are in Houston for the holiday.  All of the kids spent the day playing Skyrim on our Steam laptop.  It is very popular.  It’s amazing how into the game all of the kids are.  Liesl has really gotten into it and is deep into the story and replays parts of it a bit.  She knows the characters and what is going on in the game and really knows how to play it.  She knows parts of the game better than I do.  Luciana still struggles with it, it is a very complex game, but she is getting better and it is still impressive how much she is able to play.  When I was these girls’ ages I definitely could not play games like this.  Of course, when I was their ages, games like this did not exist at all.  So maybe that is not a very fair comparison.  Who knows what I would have been like had there been games of this nature.

November 21, 2017: The Cousins Discover Skyrim

Tuesday.  Working on shifting documentation to new systems this morning.  We’ve had it with OneNote and Sharepoint, they are useless.

Dominica and Francesca went out grocery shopping and to pick up doughnuts this morning.

Liesl and Luciana introduced their cousins, Garrett and Clara, to Skyrim today.  That is their new thing.  Now they all want to play it.  A bit of a problem as it is a one player game and we only have one copy of it.

November 20, 2017: Watching Travel Shows with Madeline

Monday.  Clara went to the clinic this morning.  Double ear infections and a very bad cold.

This evening, I got Madeline to watch some UK travel shows with me, slowly working on getting her to think about the places in the UK that she wants to go see when we head overseas for her graduation in June.  It might sound like it is a ways away, but it will be happening much sooner than it seems.

November 19, 2017: Houston for the Holiday

Sunday.  Today we got up, packed the car, and drove down to Houston.  So that took pretty much the whole day.  It took us till around noon to get on the road this morning, putting us in Houston just a little after five this evening.

We are down for the Thanksgiving holiday, which is quite early this year on the twenty third, and then staying here through Liesl’s birthday.

We are prepared for this trip, we brought our Steam laptop with us.  I am scheduled to have to travel to Doha, Qatar for work any day so we are prepared in case Dominica and the girls end up staying down here in Houston and I fly from here instead of Dallas.  I was supposed to travel last week from Dallas, but nothing ever happened.  So I’ve just been waiting on word that it is time to go for a few weeks.  But we couldn’t avoid doing stuff for the holidays and for Liesl’s birthday, so we just switched our pending airport to Houston instead of Dallas and are waiting to see what happens.
