May 21, 2018: Almost Done with Paul’s Harry Potter Marathon

I got maybe four hours of sleep, at maximum, having worked until after four o’clock in the morning, and being up around eight this morning.

Paul’s “moving truck” arrived from Missouri today. So this afternoon was unloading all of that.

By a little after six I was trying to get away from the desk. Tonight we did some Harry Potter movies. First we watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Then we started watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but Paul was not able to stay awake and we are mostly watching for him. So we had to take a break in viewing.

May 19, 2018: Mowing Day

Checked in with work for a bit, then went right out to do some mowing. It was really hot for being outside. I mowed like crazy today. I had two chargers set up in the house and two weed whackers going. I went through four whole battery charges today, just to make a dent in the lawn. That was seriously exhausting.

Tonight, I ordered in pizza for dinner.

May 18, 2018: The New Parent Trap

As every morning, I started off in the office working. Late in the morning I was out in the front garden trying to save the lavender plants. The summer heat really affects them, they need a lot of water. One of the plants appears to have been dug up my something. My theory is that we have a cat that hangs out in the front garden box.

About eight months later we would learn that the cat that was doing this is Nuc who lives with Ken in the alley behind the house.  So we know this cat well now.

I am working as a bench tech today. We have a lot of laptops and desktops that need to be built and I have a bit of an assembly line set up in the bar to allow me to work on everything.

The girls and I had a daddy daughter movie night tonight. We ordered a Domino’s order at nine thirty.

We started our movie night with Liesl’s favourite pizza tradition of a classic Pink Panther movie. Tonight it was The Pink Panther 7.

Our next film was the 1998 remake of Disney’s The Parent Trap. I have been trying to talk the girls into watching this movie for years. Finally I was able to convince them. And, as expected, they loved it. It was the perfect choice for our movie night.

That took us until well after one in the morning. Then it was time for bed.

May 17, 2018: Gardening

Worked this morning, then in the late morning got a chance to go outside and do some gardening. Dominica and Paul were out today, so I was watching the girls and that always involves a lot of cooking. They graze so there is really no end of making food for them, just small amounts at a time.

Had to keep working on solving the Windows 10 1803 problem today. But finally by the end of the day we had a fix for it. We now have a script that successfully halts Windows from breaking itself.

It was a long day and I didn’t get a chance to go to bed till just minutes before two in the morning. These days work just never stops.
