October 25, 2017: Minivan Inspected

Wednesday.  Got the Nissan Quest inspected today.  No issues there.

Tonight Dominica made a vegetarian meat pie thing that was pretty good.

I have been playing Secret Files: Tungusta and tonight the girls decided that they wanted to join me and watch some of the game.  They really liked it and asked me to start over so that they can play it with me.

October 24, 2017: Tungusta

Tuesday.

I managed to play some XCOM today.  Liesl loves that game, and I really enjoy it.  It’s just slightly too hard for her right now, the strategy in it is rather advanced.

Dominica made lasagna tonight

Dominica and I finished the first season of 24 tonight.  And the verdict is.. it’s a lame, boring show.  I wish that I would not have watched it.  It’s not horrible, but certainly not wasting time on.  I have no interest in seeing another season of it, so I won’t be giving it any further chances.  It was a mildly interesting concept executed exceedingly poorly.

Tonight I played some of Secret Files: Tungusta on Steam.  It’s an old fashioned point and click adventure game.  I’m liking it, good story and well made game.

October 23, 2017: Frustrations

Monday.  Today was a very busy day on MangoLassi and Spiceworks.  Tons of conversations.  My time is a bit confusing right now as I’m running this new company, but they aren’t clear if they can pay me yet.  They are promising me pay, but not coming through with anything and none of the plans that they made are coming to fruition.  They wanted me back in Arizona, but then didn’t have me come out.  They decided to get rid of the people in Arizona, but haven’t actually done anything.  They are definitely not communicating and it is getting really stressful.  It’s really hard to be an effective boss when most of the staff never works, and the owners are both lazy and insane.  It’s already become crystal clear that they don’t have any idea what they are doing and are bleeding money like crazy but don’t have the first idea what to do about it and have so much pride that listening to anyone is something they’d never do.  It’s so easy to turn the company around, but there seems to be no interest in actually getting anything done.  Argh.

We watched more of 24 tonight.  I’m invested so am going to finish the season.  But I’m not very impressed.  It’s mildly entertaining, but all of it is bad.  The writing, the characters, the acting.  None of it really works.

October 22, 2017: 24

Sunday.

Today I got my first ever ad on YouTube that appears to have actually been intended for me.  People talk about how creepily ads are targeted for them these days, but I basically never see it.  Nearly all ads that I see seem completely random, or possibly even less appropriate for me than totally non-targeted television ads.  Like it is actually astounding how poorly Google knows me.  It’s like they pay no attention and guess that I’m the total opposite of who I am.  What few ads might be for something I might be interested in are typically presented in such a way as to drive me away from it.

I tried to play some video games today, but as often happens, once I’m interested in playing a game, the girls take over.

Today, Dominica and I went back to the hit television show 24 that came out many years ago (but not so long ago that I do not still think of it as a new show, haha.)  We started binge watching that to see how it was.  The premise of the show is that the twenty four episodes of the season each take place in real time and are each one hour long, so over the course of the season you see a single twenty four hour period of the show.

The first few episodes seem to be okay.  We will see as we give it more time.

October 21, 2017: Saturday

Saturday.  Today was pretty quiet, at least in my notes.  The week was busy, so taking it easy.  Still waiting and waiting to hear what is going on with this job in Arizona.  They are definitely stalling on getting the basic stuff done, things are not looking good.  But they keep telling us that everything is great.  It’s hard not to be pretty skeptical.
