July 5, 2017: The Journey Down

Twenty seven days on my DuoLingo streak on Spanish.  Yesterday I finally passed my all time Italian score there with Spanish.  I’m doing well.  Really moving forward with that stuff quickly.

After work today I had a gaming night with the girls.  Tonight we played The Journey Down: Chapter One which is a Caribbean themed adventure game.  We had a very nice time.  The game is easy enough to follow that the girls are able to play it quite a bit without a lot of help from me.  Not completely, of course, but they did great.  And they really like the story and the quirky characters.

We tried playing Worms Reloaded with the girls tonight, but the controls are so confusing that they did not get into it at all.

Liesl played a new game called Fire that she enjoyed.

After the kids moved towards bed I started playing a game that I’ve recently gotten into, Secret Files: Tungusta.  Old school adventure game that I am really liking.

July 4, 2017: Party at Watsons

A bunch of random people that I have never met before showed up at the house today.  It was a bit weird.  People kept coming to the door and just kind of barging in as if I didn’t even live here and was just some visitor opening the door for them.  Pretty odd.  I have no idea what was going on.

This afternoon, the family went up to Watson’s house for a fourth of July cook out party.  It was a good crowd and we had a really nice time.  The girls had a lot of fun, too.  We did our own fireworks at night and Liesl was even brave enough to try lighting her own Roman candle!

July 3, 2017: Wii U Day

Monday.  Day twenty five of my Spanish streak on DuoLingo.

This morning’s project was to set up the kids with the Wii U that has been stored down in Houston for a few years.  The girls have been wanting to play it for a while and it has been gone for so long.  It was like getting a completely new toy at this point.

After all these years, we checked out to see if any good games had been made for the Nintendo Wii U.  As expected, no, none were every made.  Like all other Nintendo platforms, this was effectively abandoned after a few months of empty hype and nothing worth playing was ever really made for it.

Liesl did try out the old Wii game Super Paper Mario, that Dominica used to play.

Dominica and I watched Star Trek: Beyond today.

This evening Liesl, Luciana, and I played the elastic band puzzle game Elastrix.  It is cute and fun.

July 2, 2017: Video Game Sale

Sunday.  On day twenty four of a streak on DuoLingo Spanish. Shawn was playing The Last of Us, all morning.

Dominica went out early this morning to go grocery shopping.

Dominica has been addicted to watching Criminal Minds.

The girls played a lot of Battleblocks Theater and Castle Crashers with their cousins today.

I managed to score a bunch of games on big time sale today on Steam.  We got Wanderlust: Rebirth, Sacred Citadel, Move or Die, Wanderlust Adventures, Dungeons: The Eye of Draconus, Space Farmers, Shiftlings, Stories: Path of Destinies, The Lonesome Frog, Bad Rats Show, Slap Village, Fables from the Den, Kathy Rain, MechaGore, Imprisoned Light, Darkarta: A Broken Heart’s Quest, The Cat Games, Zup!, Zup! 2, Zup! 3, Zup! 4, Zup! 5, Zup! Zero, PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate, Drizzlepath: Glass, Nephise, and Nephise Begins.  Quite the haul!

This evening Dominica make baked fish and cauliflower.

July 1, 2017: Liesl and Daddy Movie Night

Saturday.  There was rain around the region today, but it managed to just miss us.

Dominica has been having some issues with her Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop.  It has never been good, at all, but since leaving Windows behind it has been much improved.  We are still trying to figure out how to make it actually good, though.  So today I installed Gecko Linux with the Budgie desktop to see how that will work.

Liesl and I had a daddy / daughter movie night tonight.  I made popcorn and we hung out.  Luciana decided to do her own thing.  We watched a few things, but the big one was Liesl’s first time watching Agent Cody Banks which she liked.
