November 2, 2018: Lots of Job Applicants

Woke up at five this morning.  Figured that I would just get up and start getting to work.  I was the first one up, even more Paul or Francesca who are traditionally the first ones awake.

I got a lot done, today.  It was super productive.  I’ve been working really hard on getting my email down to zero stuff in my inbox, which is a lot of work.  But the progress has been great and it makes me feel so much better.  Rodrigo and I have been working on eliminating the backlog of tickets, too, and that has been going really well.  So there is a real sense of accomplishing things.

The kitchen setup with my Dell laptop, and the new 24″ Element screen, and the Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse has really been working well.  The only real problem is the bright sunlight that hits in the late morning and the overall noise in the house, which isn’t too bad today.

Dominica made breakfast sandwiches again today, but today with English muffins.  She and Paul are really loving the breakfast sandwich maker that Francesca has and are determined to buy one once we are back home.  I’m not so fond of it.  I like breakfast sandwiches, likely more than either of them, but feel that it doesn’t do all that good of a job making them.  At least today with English muffins they were pretty good, but the last two days with a biscuit yesterday and a bagel the day before, it did a terrible job and it was just bread in the middle with an outside ring of egg.  Not good at all, not even actually a sandwich!

The kids hing out at the dining room table for a while with me so that they could do their homework while I was working on my laptop.

This afternoon, Madeline came home on the down low and sneaked into the house and hid upstairs for a while.  I was the only one that saw her sneak into the house (Emily was coordinating everything.)  She surprised pretty much everyone.  No one was expecting her.

We have loads of job applications flooding in now.  We are very excited.  We have a lot to sort though, we need to start interviews soon.

November 1, 2018: Cold Swimming Day

Thursday.  The cousins are off of school today, so it is an all fun day.  We decided that we are going to stay in Houston through most of the weekend, so this morning Paul and Dominica went shopping and picked me up a wireless keyboard and mouse and a 24″ LED 1080p monitor that is pretty small and decently portable so that I can have a real setup in the dining room and be much more productive.  This’ll be my regular, travel setup.  I have a great laptop, it is just so small that it is hard to work from it full time on its own.

It’s cold today, but the kids wanted to swim.  So swim they did, for hours.  It was so cold, no way that any of the adults were going to consider going in.

We did some job postings for the hiring that we want to do in Mexico and Panama.  We are very excited to see if it works.  We’ve been struggling to hire for quite some time and now we have more of a need for people so this is a new adventure for us.

October 31, 2018: Halloween in Houston

I got up at six thirty this morning, we got into Houston earlier than usual last night and got to bed at a decent time and now I am awake very early.

By seven thirty Paul and I went out and sat outside by the pool. It is a nice morning and great to enjoy the fresh air.

Liesl was up early around eight and started the day with Paul teaching her how to shoot pool.

I went swimming later on in the morning.

This evening was trick or treating. The girls went out with their cousins and had a good time and got lots of candy. We had very few people come trick or treating at the house.

October 30, 2018: Seal the Deal

Breakfast for me today was a bowl of steamed veggies.

Liesl has been loving A Hat in Time and finally the DLC for it, Seal the Deal is available and on sale and I got it for her. So the girls played that all afternoon.

We had to pack this afternoon. We are heading down to Houston for Halloween.

Did some Fedora 29 updates today, getting my laptop ready for heading out.

We were on the road around four to drive to Houston. So that took up pretty much the remainder of the day.
