Today was meant to be an early day for me without a whole lot of work, but of course, that didn’t happen. I waited around for a long time at the house so that John and I could get some work done this morning. We ended up working over lunch and I headed into the hospital after that. By this time it was a little bit late in the afternoon so I stopped by Borders and Walmart so that I could pick up some CDs to listen to in the car on the long drive back to New York after work.

I worked in the office trying to get a functional remote access and control system in place for our desktop computers down there. It ended up taking much longer than I had planned and instead of leaving between noon and 3:00pm to head for New York like I had planned, I ended up leaving the hospital at 9:30pm. Oops. So it was a late start to begin with. Then, on the way up 95, there was an accident that slowed traffic considerably. But the real delay came in northern Pennsylvania when a dump truck flipped dumping a load of garbage onto the highway. Of course, I was the first car to get to the accident after the police and the fire department had blocked off the road with flairs. So I ended up spending hours sitting on the road waiting for them to clear it so that we could all get through. I spent some time hanging out with the truck drivers and bikers who were also stuck waiting for an accident at 2:30am. Boy was it late. I got some reading done that I had wanted to do so the time wasn’t totally wasted. Just goes to show how important it is to always have a book along in the car, even when you don’t think you will have the chance to read it. I ended up getting to bed around 5:00am! Boy was I tired.

Another early morning for me. Today I had to be up at 5:00am so that John and I could get out to the city and meet with American University early this morning. We ended up having to drive in during rush hour which is always fun but managed to be a bit early for the meeting so we stopped by a coffee shop and had more coffee while waiting for the meeting time to roll around. The meeting involved touring the AU Chem lab facilities and overall seemed to go really well.

After the meeting, John and I went back into the office and worked there for the rest of the day.

This morning I got up early (early for me, at least) and headed south for Washington, DC. I haven’t been down there in months and this trip has been long overdue. It has been so long since I drove down to DC that the trip was actually very refreshing. Every so often I really need a long car drive to give me a chance to just totally relax. On the way down I listened to Sue Grafton’s latest book, “Q is for Quarry.” So far, I think that this is one of her best works. I was really impressed by this one. It is six hours long and made the drive really fly by.

I got to the DC office around 2:00 and worked there until 5:00. I got back to the house in Maryland and did very little this evening. I did some work on a laptop that I am down here to work on but that is about all. I have to get up early tomorrow morning so tonight will be an early night for me.

A quick reminder, Perry High School’s presentation of Bye, Bye Birdie is this weekend, Friday and Saturday (May 16 and 17) at 7:00pm. Leanne is directing. She wanted everyone to know. Also this weekend is the Boynton Middle School Music Department trip to Darien Lake.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our SGL moms out there.

Dominica and I went to church this morning with my parents and then we headed to my grandmother’s where we had Mother’s Day Dinner. Andy was still in Avon with his family. Min and I headed to Avon around 6:00 to pick Andy up and head back to Ithaca.

Min, Andy and I all headed out towards Rochester to celebrate Mother’s Day with our families. Min and I dropped Andy off at his parent’s house in Avon and then we headed on the pick up my parents and go to the Hillside Inn for dinner (and put the downpayment down on the place for the wedding.) Dinner was really good and my parents both said that they got the best Fillet Mignon that they have ever had, so that is encouraging. So we decided that the beef entree will be one of the choices at the reception. It was late by the time that dinner was over so we headed home and went to bed.
