September 28, 2018: Heading to Missouri

Friday. We loaded up in the minivan and left first thing in the morning to head to Missouri. We were up so early that we were on the road before five! We drove up through Oklahoma, getting into Oklahoma just after six! I don’t think that we have ever managed to leave so early.

Part of the reason that we are driving so early is so that we can get as much of the drive over with as early as possible so that I can do some work from the hotel once we arrive.

Paul attempted to surprise us with miniature gold as we drove through Missouri, but he was foiled as the place was closed. What a pain.

We arrived at our hotel is Sullivan, Missouri at two thirty. We are staying at the Baymont. It has a nice indoor swimming pool that the girls are very excited about.

We got settled in, then the girls went swimming for a big while I worked. That worked out really well, I had stuff to do and they were thrilled with getting swim time in.

For dinner we went out to Planet Sub that we always go to when we are here. We love their subs.

After dinner we went bowling. Liesl has been interested in bowling for a week or two. She saw it on Growling Pains and thought that she would like it.

Overall, the girls had a good time. Luciana got decently frustrated, as you might imagine. But she had fun. Liesl really enjoyed it. Paul had fun. Dominica pushed herself too far and hurt her back, of course. I, obviously, did not bowl at all as I have carpal tunnel and even thinking about holding a bowling ball makes my entire hand hurt. The sheer thought of it makes my broken thumb ache. Nothing could be worse for me as an activity physically.

Tomorrow is Chris’ surprise birthday party.

September 26, 2018: Incoming Storm

Wednesday.  I found Liesl up and reading her book before six this morning.  Not something that we usually have happen.  I think, from what I learned from her, is that she got woken up by Luciana’s feet touching her and it made her mad so she got up and read since she couldn’t sleep.

Some alarm went off at six thirty that I couldn’t find.  Or maybe it was a phone call or something.  I never found the device responsible.  But I was awake from it so got up and went into the office to get to work.

It was a very orange morning today, no question that a storm was rolling in and by eight it was strong thunder.  We are due for rain the whole day.

I had a long and overly busy morning.  But just after noon I was doing shots of rum at my desk.

My day stayed busy and after lunch, I had no time to record anything.

September 25, 2018: Ciana Becomes a Slime Master

Tuesday.  I had to be up and working by around seven thirty this morning!  Not fun after working till one or two in the morning last night.

While working in my office today, I heard some sounds in the kitchen and came out to investigate.  I discovered Luciana, all on her own, making her own batch of slime without anyone helping her at all!

She was doing a great job.  I can’t believe how well it was turning out without having anyone at all doing it with her.  She managed to get all of the stuff, set it up, and mix it properly for a nice, big batch; all by herself.  So impressive.

September 24, 2018: King’s Quest

Monday.  I had to be up quite early this morning, around six, to “man the phones” as I was the morning coverage today.  So very little sleep for me.  I’ve been pretty busy.

Dominica and Paul went out grocery shopping this morning.  It’s so great that they are able to do that and I do not need to be involved.  I hate grocery shopping normally.  Too stressful and I don’t know where anything is.

Dominica and Paul say that they are starting new diets this morning.  We will see how long that lasts.  They were going to “walk every day”, too.  But that lasted only one day.

For lunch today, I had broccoli in a cheese sauce that I could steam in a bag.

I worked all day, it was rather busy.  I did NextCloud updates this evening, on 14.0.1 now.

Liesl and I started playing King’s Quest (2015), the recent remake of the famous early 1980s series.  I have to say, they did quite an amazing job of revamping the classic series. Both Liesl and I really enjoyed it.  The graphics are great, the voice acting is great, the story is silly and well done.  It does a great job of starting over, without actually starting over.  King Graham telling the story to his granddaughter is a really interesting twist and a lot of fun.  Liesl loved it.

Like most of my day, my entire evening has been spent on the phone.  I worked till well after midnight.  We are dealing with interviews and such.  Just so busy.
