July 18, 2013: Another Great D&D Night

The girls were not able to go to Ms. Melissa’s house for daycare today but thankfully, at the last minute, Dominica had been able to reach Morgan yesterday and she came by at nine this morning to watch the girls for the day.  It really is amazingly convenient for us to have Morgan come here rather than needing to transport the girls elsewhere.  Much less stress.

I had a busy morning before leaving the house. This whole week has been crazily busy.  So much going on.  Due to some changes at Dominica’s office, the Ralstons are cancelling their trip down to Texas next week.  That will help them out with being overloaded with work but makes us all scramble to figure out what all is going on now, next week.  I will be speaking on Danielle’s behalf at SpiceCorps DFW now, so I have extra work load to do there now.

I got home after work and we cleaned as we usually do trying to get ready for the Dungeons & Dragons game.  Dominica did a lot of cleaning before I got home.  Kyler was over first, around seven.  Morgan (who had gone home to change) and Jose were over at eight.  Rachel and Jaiden made it a little after eight thirty.

Really great gaming session tonight.  Very little time lost dealing with food and drinks.  We got in and really got into the game quickly.  And a ton more roleplaying than in the past.  I think that everyone is starting to “get it” a lot more.  This was a big improvement.  We did not play nearly as late tonight as we have been but the game was really intense and we made a lot of progress.  Very encouraging and after a month and a half we’ve not lost a single player, not even for a single session.  That is really an accomplishment.

July 17, 2013: Lots of Calls

In the office today.  It’s been a relatively slow week overall.  Not too bad.  At least in the office.  I’ve had so many emails and calls this week, it feels like I can’t even comprehend what all is going on.  Just a swirl of activity.  I feel like I’m on the phone all of the time.

I had to get home a little early tonight after working through lunch and was on a call for two and a half hours this evening.  That was relatively exhausting.

Later in the evening, after dinner, Morgan came over when she was done with work and we put in an hour or two going over some work stuff for her.  She couldn’t stay late as she is coming back early in the morning to watch the girls so that Dominica can get to work.

July 16, 2013: Ice Cream Date with Liesl

Today was a long work day.  I got in nice and early and ended up working decently late not getting home until around six.  I was just late enough that Luciana, who had not taken a nap today, had gone to bed before I even got home.  That sucked. So I did not get to see her at all today, not one minute.

I had already eaten at work during the day so I asked Liesl if she wanted to go out for ice cream.  Not surprisingly, she did.  So just Liesl and I went out for a special outing to Braum’s to get ice cream cones.  Liesl is loving their Sicilian orange sherbet these days.

We picked up some groceries too while we were at Braum’s and came home with supplies.  Then the three of us plopped down on the couch and watched several episodes of The New Girl before calling it a night.

July 15, 2013: New Monday Schedule

Back to work, it is Monday.    It is cold out today.  It cooled down yesterday and today it is actually colder than it is in New York.  Quite chilly for a Texas summer day.  Dominica was off to work early and the girls got up and got themselves ready so that they could play with Morgan as soon as she arrived.  Morgan is now slated to be taking care of the girls every Monday which makes Dominica and my lives so much easier.  My mornings were horrific trying to deal with getting the girls ready and driving them for an hour to daycare.  Talk about exhausting and stressful.  The drive is an hour and it takes at least an hour to get them ready.  So this saves me two hours on any day that Morgan is here and saves Dominica nearly an hour at the end of the day as well.

I ran home at lunch and went to Kroger to pick up soymilk for Ciana because we had run out.  I had meant to get some last night but had forgotten and knew that if I didn’t get any before Dominica got home that I would be in trouble so figured the trip home at lunch made sense.  I hung out with Morgan for a bit and talked about work.  Got to hang out with the girls.  They love having Morgan over.  She really wears them out.

Quiet evening.  We just spent the evening at home relaxing.

July 14, 2013: Ciana’s Long Nap

It’s Sunday and Liesl asked specifically if we could go to the “restaurant with the high tables”, by which she meant Genghis Grill where they have really high tables.  The girls really like the mac and cheese that they have there.

So after a lazy morning we headed down to Addison for lunch and got food at the Genghis Grill which is Dominica’s new favourite place to go.  The food is really healthy there.  And we can get a decent variety of food made how we like it and it is pretty cheap.

After lunch the girls were being good and Dominica was hankering for ice cream so we swung by Braum’s which is practically on the way home from Addison.  Their ice cream is so good!

We got home and Luciana decided that she was tired and put herself to bed around three.  We thought that she was just going to go down for a short nap like she often does but no, she was actually putting herself to bed.  She ended up happily sleeping for the next eighteen hours!  That was pretty surprising.

We hung out this afternoon and tried out a new show (to us), The New Girl.  It is pretty good, we are liking it.  Cute sitcom.

I didn’t get a lot of free time this evening.  I did a little work and around six thirty I went into Dominica’s office and operated as “remote hands” for over two hours working on a series of routers, firewalls and switches doing cable tracing, patching consoles, etc.   It was a long evening but really productive and we manage to fix a lot of stuff.  Well worth the effort.

I went straight from her office to Redneck as they are close to each other and that way I would not need to drive all of the way back home before going out which would more than double my drive time.  Chris had texted me to go out tonight or I would have no bothered.  Dominica was tired and planning on going to bed early anyway, though.  So Chris and I hung out at Redneck for a little while, but not really all that long.
